Today's Spotlight
Hal Sparks
Hal Sparks

Hal Sparks is an actor whose career spans network television, prestige cable, and the big screen. Best known as Michael Novotny on Showtime's groundbreaking Queer as Folk (2000–2005) — one of the first American series to portray gay relationships without apology — his five-season run helped define a generation of television.

On the big screen, Hal played Zoltan, the bubble-wrapped, alien-obsessed cult leader in the cult comedy classic Dude, Where's My Car?, and shared an elevator with Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2 — possibly the most iconic six seconds in Marvel film history.

For a generation of Disney XD kids, he is Donald Davenport — the eccentric billionaire inventor and father figure at the heart of Lab Rats and its spinoff Lab Rats: Elite Force. His range across drama, comedy, animation, and voice work reflects a career built on instinct, versatility, and refusal to be categorized.
